Shopping with tesco.com/entertainment

Our new site is designed to be as simple to use as possible. On this page are some simple tips on how to search, browse and purchase.

Searching – I know what I want.

The easiest way to find what you're looking for is to search for it. The "Search" box is at the top of every page right in the middle.

Simply type the name of the artist, album, song, TV show, game or film into the search box at the top of the screen and click the "Go" button.
If you don"t find what you want straight away, here are a few tips:

  • Keep it simple – check that you"ve spelled the name correctly.
  • Best results are often obtained if you enter just one or two key words. Try not to use words like "the", "and", "a", etc. which will produce many results.
  • Don"t worry about punctuation our search engine will reveal the same results whether or not you use "proper punctuation"
  • If you can"t find a film searching by title try searching by actor or director instead. For example, searching Blu-ray by actor for "Marlon Brando" – or just "Brando" – will produce a list of all Blu-ray films we have starring that actor.
  • You can refine your search in two ways,
    • Using the category drop down next to the search box narrows your search within one category – for example DVDs
    • Using the "Refine your Search results" link. If you get too many search results you can narrow them down to what you're really looking for,
      • Start by selecting values in the columns. The other columns will update as you make your selections.
      • Click the "Go" button when you're happy with your selections and the search results will be updated to show only those results matching the values you selected.
      • You can click the "Clear" button at any time to clear your selections.

Browsing – Not sure what I want – inspire me!

Searching is not the only way to find what your looking for – browsing the site is also an option. The main areas of the site are shown at the top of every page in the navigation bar; simply click the tabs to move between different product areas.

Once you have chosen an area, you can then use "Browse" button on the left-hand side of the navigation.

  • Start by selecting values in the columns. The other columns will update as you make your selections.
  • Click the "Go" button when you're happy with your selections and the search results will show items matching the values you selected.
  • You can click the "Clear" button at any time to clear your selections

I like a particular kind of music, TV show or film

  • If you want to see more of a particular kind of music, game, TV show or film, click the Genres link in the navigation in your chosen product area, then select the particular type of film, game, music etc. This will take you to our specially created pages where you will find all the related products from that genre.
  • You can also browse by Genre using the method outlined in the previous section and selecting a value from the genre column before clicking Go.

Buying – I"ve found what I want.

  • Click the "Buy" button next to the product you want to purchase. The item will be added to your "Shopping Basket" which is found on the top right of the page.
  • Music is available on CD, as downloadable MP3s, or both. You can buy a single track or purchase a whole album. Make sure you click the "Buy" button next to the format you wish to purchase. MP3 files will play on any PC or portable music player, including Apple iPods.

I want to pay for what's in my basket

  • To pay for your basket items first click the Checkout link at the top right corner of the screen, this will take you to step 1 of the checkout process "Review Basket". Once you've sorted out the titles in your basket, enter a promotional code and clubcard number if you have them (if you don't, just ignore them) and click the pink next button to go to the next stage of the checkout process.
    If you're not yet registered with us, type your e-mail address when prompted then click Continue. If you're already registered but haven"t yet logged in type in your e-mail address and password and click the "Log in" button.
  • If you are ordering items that need to be delivered then your next step will be "Delivery Options". Enter your delivery address in the provided fields or select a saved address if you have one. By default all items will be sent to the address you have entered or selected. To send items to different addresses click the black "Send Items to Multiple Addresses" button then select the addresses you want for each item from the list next to each item. To create a new address to send items to click the "Set Up New Address" link in the top right of the Address Book area.

The next step is "Payment"; you can choose to pay by several methods:

  • Credit/Debit Card. (Note that we only accept credit or debit cards registered to a UK address). New customers should fill in their payment details. This is completely safe and we'll look after your personal and financial details as if they were our own. If this is the card you'll normally use to shop with us, click in the empty box next to "Store card for future purchases" to put a tick there.
  • eWallet. Your eWallet account is where any eGift vouchers are stored which you can top up using a credit/debit card. Use it to buy anything at tesco.com/entertainment, it"s a great way to keep track of your spend and helps you budget. eWallet can be used to buy anything on the site. (with the exception of eGift vouchers and DVD rental subscriptions)
    • If you have an eWallet your eWallet balance will appear below your card details, click "Use eWallet" to use this balance to pay for your purchases.
  • Tesco gift cards/moneycards. If you have a Tesco gift card/moneycard you use it on tesco.com/entertainment.
    • To check the balance on your Tesco gift card/moneycard click here and goto the balance checker link (within the browse section on the left hand side).
    • To use your gift card/moneycard enter the gift card/moneycard number and security pin and click "Redeem". When you have finished click the pink next button labelled "Confirmation".

The next step is "Confirmation",

  • Check everything's OK. If not, you can return to any of the previous screens by clicking the relevant buttons.
  • If you are happy with your order click the pink "Place your order" button.
  • When your payment has been accepted, your card issuer may make a further security check. Once this is complete you'll be ready to get your purchases.

Verified by Visa and Mastercard secure

Visa and Mastercard have introduced new security checks for the protection of credit and debit cards online. As a result you may be asked for your Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™ password when completing a purchase. To find out more about these services:

  • What happens if I am not registered for Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™?

If you are not already registered with your card issuer, you will be prompted to register securely during the checkout process and create a password for your card. If you're unsure about this new service, you may be able to complete your order without registering but we recommend that you contact your card issuer to find out more about the service.

  • I'm registered but when do I enter my details?

You will be asked for it as you complete your order. Remember your Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™ password is not your Tesco password and Tesco does not have access to your Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™ password.

  • If I have a problem with Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™ who should I contact?

You should contact the card issuer who issued your card. Their contact details are normally found on the back of your credit/debit card

How do I amend my basket?

  • Click on 'Checkout' at the top of the page.
  • You will see the description, price and quantity of each item in your basket.
  • You can change the quantity by entering the amount you would like to purchase or by using the +/- buttons, or remove the item altogether by clicking 'x'.

How do I cancel my order?

  • Log in.
  • Click on My Account in the top right of the page and then click 'Order History'.
  • Click the View/Change button for the order you wish to Cancel.
  • If all the items in your order can be cancelled, you can click on the pink 'Cancel Order' button in the top right of your order.
  • To cancel individual items within your order, click the black “Cancel” button to the right of the item you wish to cancel.

You will receive an email confirmation within 48 hours confirming the cancellation

Where is my order?

Tesco.com/entertainment will keep you informed on the progress of your order by email and on the website. To find out the latest information online, click on the 'My Account' link at the top right of the home page (you must be logged in to see this link), and then select 'Order History'.

When you have placed your order:

  • We will email you with your order confirmation.
  • We will also update the 'Order History' page online with your order details.

How to monitor your order:

  • You can continue to monitor the progress of your order by returning to the 'Order History' page then selecting the order you wish to monitor by either clicking on the order number, or clicking the View/Change button to the right of the relevant order.

When your order is despatched:

  • We will email you to confirm the items that have been despatched.
  • We will update your item 'Status' (within your order details) to 'despatched' and debit your account for the item total.

If the estimated delivery date for your order of CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays or Games is delayed for any reason:

  • We will email you with your new expected delivery date and update the estimated despatch date in your order details.

My order has missing items

Orders from tesco.com/entertainment will be despatched separately as items become available.
If after 10 days of the despatch date you are missing products from your entertainment delivery, please contact our customer service centre by phone on 0845 600 2722, or via the website contact form.

How is my order confirmed?

You will receive confirmation of your order via e-mail.
The status of the items in your order can be checked on the order details page.

How do I send an eGift Voucher to someone?

To send someone an eGift Voucher simply click on the Buy eGift Voucher link on the right-hand side (just below your basket) and you will be taken to the eGift Voucher page.

Fill in the form, including the value of the voucher you want to send, the recipients name and email address and your own email address. If you wish, you can also add a short message to make the gift more personal before adding it to your basket. Your eGift Voucher can then be bought along with your other purchases from tesco.com/entertainment.

Please be aware that it is not possible to pay for orders including eGift Vouchers using your eWallet.

How do I redeem an eGift Voucher that someone has sent me?

To redeem an eGift Voucher, simply click the link contained in the email you received. The link will take you to your eWallet Statement page where you should see that the eGift Voucher has been credited to your account.

If you are not logged in, log in using the email address to which the voucher was sent. If the voucher has already been redeemed, you will see a message advising you of this.

Deliveries

What are the despatch times?

The despatch estimate for each item is shown on the item’s detail page and also in the basket review page during checkout. The majority of deliveries are made by Royal Mail and will arrive within 3-5 days. High value items are delivered by TNT.

If for any reason your delivery has not arrived 10 days after the despatch date (you will receive an email as each item is despatched), please contact us on 0845 600 2722.

Who can sign for my delivery?

No signature is required for the majority of orders. For high value and large bulk orders, deliveries are made by TNT and require a signature on delivery by someone over the age of 18.
If you are not at home, the courier will leave a card stating the date and time they called. Please contact the number on the card to arrange a second delivery.

Returns

Please note, that you can only return items within 28 working days of receiving the delivery. We will be unable to process the return after this date.

To return an item:

  • If you received a delivery note with your delivery, the returns slip can be found on the delivery note. If you did not receive a delivery note with your delivery or have misplaced it, you can print a returns slip from the despatch email you received. Please click the link under 'Need to return something', which will open a new page with a returns slip. Please print a copy of the returns slip and complete this with your returns reason and whether you would like a replacement item or refund.
  • Package the item securely and don't forget to include the completed returns slip.
  • If you cannot find your delivery note and returns slip or cannot print one from your despatch email, please call Customer Services on 0845 600 2722 for assistance.

The small print:

  • Downloads cannot be returned.
  • Products must be returned with the original packaging intact.
  • We regret that Tesco cannot be held responsible for non-delivery of returned goods so we recommend you get a certificate of posting from the Post Office.
  • If an item has been returned and you are requesting a refund you will be refunded the cost of the goods but not the return postal charges.
  • Your statutory rights are not affected.
  • Items bought at Tesco.com/entertainment cannot be returned to a Tesco store.
  • Any Clubcard points earned for the purchase of an item returned for a refund will be deducted from your account, including any promotional extra points earned.
