The vibrant Leona Lewis came to the attention of the Worlds media through British talent show The X Factor which she went on to win in a landslide victory.

Leona grew up in the Islington area of North London and has been singing and performing from a young age.

Coincidentally it was victory at a talent show aged just 13 that spurred her to devote herself entirely to music.

Leona went on to study hard at the BRIT Performing Arts School and so her performance at X Factor had been massively prepared for.

Since her X Factor victory Leona has become a multi platinum selling artist and Grammy award winner, released two hugely successful albums Spirit and Echo with Spirit becoming the first British solo artist to top the Billboard 200 with a debut album.

Leona Lewis went on a date with a mystery man at a zoo in Germany.

The 'Bleeding Love' singer - who split from her boyfriend of 10 years Lou Al-Chamaa last month - was spotted feeding the world's largest rodent, a capybara, during a romantic day out with the dark-haired hunk at the Tierpark Hagenbeck zoo in Stellingen.

A source said: "Leona and her new friend looked like they were having a great time at the zoo. They seemed very relaxed together and couldn't stop smiling as they wondered around looking at different animals - the perfect date for an animal lover like Leona."

The pop star looked keen to impress the muscular hunk, as she wore a navy summer dress, wedge heels and aviator sunglasses.

Leona - who rose to fame after winning Simon Cowell's pop star search show 'The X Factor' - is known for her love of animals and has thrown herself into charity work to help her get over her split from Lou.

Two weeks ago the beauty distracted herself with a weekend away at a bear sanctuary in Romania on behalf of the World Society for the Protection of Animals after finishing her first UK tour dates.

She tweeted: "Heading back after my trip to the bear sanctuary! Its sooo amazing, the bears are magnificent. After a life of abuse they r finally happy! X (sic)."

However, Leona's mystery date is not the only thing keeping her mind off her heartache at the moment.

The 25-year-old star is reportedly scrapping plans to tour Australia, Europe and Asia, instead choosing to head back into the recording studio instead to write new material about her split.

Leona Lewis has ruled out reconciliation with ex-boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa.

The 'Bleeding Love' hitmaker - who recently ended her 15-year relationship with her childhood sweetheart - is said to have been devastated by reports that her long-time love has been attempting to woo British actress Roxanne Pallett.

A friend of the singer said: "Her and Lou were planning to go away and talk. She was hoping for a reconciliation. But not anymore."

According to the pal, the pair, both 25, drifted apart after Lou - a former electrician - landed a job as a scout for Sony music.

The friend continued to The Sun newspaper: "I think he began to feel he was in music and didn't need Leona anymore."

It was revealed last week that Lou had been bombarding Roxanne - best known for her role in UK TV soap opera 'Emmerdale' - with flowers at the Grand Theatre in Leeds, North England, where she is currently performing in a production of 'Rock Around The Clock'.

A source said: "Last week big bunches of roses arrived for Roxanne with the name Lou on them.

"Everyone was very curious about who they were from.

"She eventually admitted they were from Leona's ex. He's really been pursuing her. He's been texting as well and wants to try to arrange a date.

"Roxanne said she met him in Los Angeles earlier this year and gave him her number.

"She seems very flattered by the attention. Who knows what will happen?"

Leona Lewis has thrown herself into animal charity work to get over her split from her boyfriend.

The 'Bleeding Love' singer spent the weekend at a bear sanctuary in Romania for the World Society for the Protection of Animals after completing her debut UK tour in a bid to try and take her mind off her childhood sweetheart Lou Al-Chamaa.

She told The Sun newspaper: "It's amazing. The bears are magnificent. After a life of abuse they are finally happy."

Leona and Lou - a former trainee electrician who was handed a job with record label Sony BMG as a talent scout after Leona became famous - announced the end of their 10-year relationship last month.

While the split was said to be amicable and blamed on their busy work schedules, it has since turned nasty with Lou demanding a £1.5 million payout for helping her become famous.

Lou claims to have filled in the form for her to audition for UK TV talent show 'The X Factor', which she went on to win, making her a global superstar who is worth millions.

A friend of Lou's said: "He believes he has played a huge role in Leona's success. They have been together for more than 10 years and he has encouraged her to fulfil her potential. He believes he has the rights of a common-law husband."
