Synopsis

Andy Whitfield (GABRIEL) stars as a Thracian warrior who is captured and enslaved by Romans. Imprisoned in Ancient Rome and later placed in gladiator school, he battles to save his life, gain his freedom and become reunited with his wife, who was also condemned to slavery. SPARTACUS – BLOOD AND SAND co-stars John Hannah (THE MUMMY) and Lucy Lawless (XENA – WARRIOR PRINCESS).

This set contains every episode from the first series of this terrific, yet incredibly violent take on the enduring story of Spartacus. Produced by Sam Raimi (SPIDER-MAN, THE EVIL DEAD) and created by screenwriter Steven S. DeKnight (a veteran scribe on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL), SPARTACUS – BLOOD AND SAND combines the epic scale of blockbusters such as GLADIATOR and TROY with the sex, violence and intrigue of hard-hitting series ROME and THE TUDORS.
