BROTHERS AND SISTERS is centered on the lives of the Walkers, a Californian family who lead seemingly idyllic lives--until the death of their patriarch William Walker (Tom Skerritt) unearths some unpleasant truths and long-hidden secrets. The aftermath of William's death resonates throughout the first series, as his wife, Nora (Sally Field), comes to terms with the revelation of her husband's infidelity. Their five children, gay lawyer Kevin (Matthew Rhys), Afghanistan war vet and recovering drug addict Justin (Dave Annable), working mother Sarah (Rachel Griffiths), staunch Republican Kitty (Calista Flockhart), and businessman Tommy (Balthazar Getty) also struggle with increasingly strained relationships, running the family business - Ojai Foods, and the realisation that their father was just as flawed and dysfunctional as they are. The show's attempt to explore what it means to be a family in the 21st century is imbued with an engaging mix of humour and drama.
