Synopsis
Nick Murphy’s gothic horror feature-debut THE AWAKENING is set in the post-World War I England of 1921 - not long after the devastating Spanish Flu outbreak; a time in which people were increasingly turning to the possibility of supernatural realms for comfort. Rebecca Hall (THE TOWN) stars as skeptic Florence Cathcart, who is called upon by teacher Robert Mallory (Dominic West, THE WIRE) to investigate ghostly events at a boys boarding school. Once there Florence finds her steely scientific resolve ebb away, when a series of unexplainable phenomenon causes her to search for answers in her own mysterious past.
