The Fighter follows Micky Wards efforts in the boxing ring to achieve his promising potential as a fighter. Managed by his mother and trained by his drug addicted brother, Micky must not only overcome his opponents in the ring but he must also overcome his family’s influence which, so far, has led to negative effects on his career. The fighter on DVD is expertly directed by David O.Russell and was deservedly nominated for seven Academy Awards. Christian Bale turns in the stand out performance of the film and deservedly won the Oscar for Best Supporting Male Actor. The Fighter on DVD is a must for all those who enjoy sports and films from the boxing genre.
