Synopsis

The Metal Gear Solid series draws to a close with Metal Gear Solid 4, the final in Hideo Kojima’s stealth action series.

In 2014, the world of war has changed. Battles are no longer fought for ideologies or authority, but for superpowers who hire PMCs, or Private Military Companies, to fight their battles for them, keeping the world in a constant state of aggression. Now aging before his time, Solid Snake returns to the battlefield to track down his nemesis, Liquid Ocelot, who controls one of these military groups.

Metal Gear Solid 4 manages to successfully combine the stealth action of previous titles, but implements a new combat system that allows players to tackle the game as they wish. Ideally, players should sneak through the war torn streets undetected by the military, but with smoother aiming and a first person mode, it’s far easier to combat enemies directly with the huge array of weaponry in store.

Metal Gear Solid has always aspired to meld the action of both film and videogames together, and Metal Gear Solid 4 is the first in the series to fully succeed. Stunning visuals meld seamlessly with gameplay to create an action experience like no other.
