Synopsis
Ninja Gaiden makes its triumphant return to Sony’s system in this sequel to the action brawler that includes new enemies and locations.
Ninja Gaiden introduced a new generation of gamers to the 80s side-scrolling ninja Ryu Hayabusa, and this sequel sees Ryu on a mission to avenge the slaughter of his clan and prevent the destruction of the world as we know it. Ninja Gaiden 2 expands on the scale of the series immensely, moving Ryu to real-world locations as he tears through a series of weird and wonderful creatures. The same solid fighting mechanics are in place, offering a sense of depth often missing from large-scale fighters.
Although Ninja Gaiden 2 was originally an Xbox 360 exclusive, Sigma 2 is more than just a simple port of the Tecmo fighter. PlayStation 3’s edition of the Ninja Gaiden sequel rewards Sony fans for their patience with a series of upgrades and additions not seen before. Most prominently, there are now four playable character to choose from, adding new warriors Ayane and Momiji to the roster.
Ninja Gaiden 2 doesn’t simply transfer the classic Tecmo fighter to Sony’s console, but instead makes a number of solid additions to the game itself.
