Synopsis

Players are put directly into the battlefield in this real-time strategy title that utilizes an immersive third-person perspective.

Real-time strategy titles traditionally take players away from the conflict unfolding, asking them instead to issue commands from a distance. Stormrise places players in the heart of battle in what could be considered the first truly 3D real-time strategy title. Taking the role of a squad commander, players must issue commands directly from the frontlines while dealing with each conflict first-hand. Each unit on the battlefield can be switched between and viewed from this perspective, making each battle far more immersive and intense.

SEGA’s unique take on the genre continues with the environments on offer, which drop the usual flat, open battlefields for more complex, sprawling cityscapes that have been stripped to their core after a catastrophic global event of the past. Using the Tactical Playbook, usually complex commands and strategies can be accessed and chosen quickly. Players can quickly join one another using the title’s ‘join anytime’ functionality online.

Stormise successfully combines the welcoming looks of a third-person action title with the more in-depth gameplay real-time strategy games offer. With this new perspective, the title feels entirely fresh.
