Synopsis
Taking its inspiration from the fourth film in the Terminator saga, players take the role of human resistance leader John Conner as he fights the machine forces of Skynet.
Terminator Salvation has given the classic science fiction film series a much needed reboot, and this adaptation of the summer blockbuster does much the same for the Terminator games. Taking place two years before the events of the film, players join the human struggle against their machine oppressors. Played in third-person, Terminator Salvation uses the ‘stop and pop’ cover mechanic that games such as Gears of War and Uncharted have made so popular. Fighting in the decimated streets of LA, much of the cover is destructible, so players will need to strategically move between each environment to survive.
Now playing as John Conner rather than Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic robot, players will be facing the constant threat of the Terminators themselves, who won’t stop their pursuit until completely destroyed. Even damaged Terminators will slowly crawl towards Conner to finish their programmed mission.
With the Terminator series now back in the limelight, Terminator Salvation manages to capture the war-like atmosphere of the film’s gun fights, as well as the unrelenting threat of the Terminators.
