Synopsis

Sony’s MotorStorm series leaves the PlayStation 3 in this arcade rally title where players must fight against the Arctic conditions of Alaska.

The MotorStorm series helped to revitalise the rally racer, placing an arcade bent on the traditional rally game. PlayStation 3’s MotorStorm titles have focused on both the harsh desert heat of Monument Valley and the dense jungle of The Island, but MotorStorm - Arctic Edge moves the race to the contrasting temperatures of Alaska. To deal with these new conditions, players have a fresh selection of vehicles at their disposal: the Snow Cat and the Snow Machine. Both of these new vehicle types can be raced alongside Arctic Edge’s more traditional transport, including Bikes, Rally cars, Big Rigs and ATVs.

Aggressive opponents may work to force less experienced players from the course, but arctic obstacles including avalanches and broken ice bridges will push players from the track without warning. Three different racing altitudes will alter the racing style needed for each track. Up to seven friends can compete against one another locally, or players can jump online and compete globally to reach the top of the leaderboards.

The MotorStorm series successfully makes the leap to new formats with Arctic Edge, providing an Alaskan twist on the arcade racing formula.
