Synopsis
Wii owners can now fill the boots of their very own dark overlord in this original adventure title from Codemasters.
Overlord, originally released on the Xbox 360, let players roam an idyllic country village as an evil tyrant, unleashing his minions across the land to wreck havoc wherever they saw fit, albeit with a tongue-in-cheek humour running throughout. Rather than simply transfer this title onto Nintendo’s Wii, Codemasters has built a new Overlord experience from the ground up, putting players into the shoes of a brand new overlord known simply as trainee tyrant.
One of Overlord’s key features was the ability to command a band of evil minions during each stage, who were able to attack villagers, smash through towns or sacrifice themselves during battle. Using the Wii Remote, players have now been given more precise control over their helpers, and are able to pick and place them far more easily. The same light-hearted humour and deliciously evil style is intact, with a new storyline written by fantasy games writer Rhianna Pratchett.
With Wii now overflowing with quick ports of older titles, it’s refreshing to see Codemasters create an entirely original Overlord experience for Wii owners with the same sense of fun and wonder.
