Synopsis
The charismatic Don King presents this boxing game that takes place inside and out of the ring.
Prizefighter offers a retrospective look at the life and career of ‘The Kid’, the legendary boxer who players have the chance to customise and control in this boxing title. Through a series of interviews and soundbites discussing The Kid at different stages of his profession, the Career mode has players progressing through the ranks during the game. Training mini-games are used to improve attributes, and other features are offered, such as the chance to participate in commercials or relive classic fights.
As well as the career mode there is also the opportunity to take control of 40 licenced boxers such as Joe Calzaghe, Rocky Marciano and Jose Luis Castillo in Exhibition mode. Matches are fought using the face buttons to throw punches and Midway Games have attempted to provide a more realistic experience using an advanced movement system that allows users to exploit all angles. Prizefighter also offers multiplayer action, available either locally or through playing online with a friend.
A new entry into the boxing game market, Prizefighter offers to mimic the sport more accurately, and players will have to work hard if they wish to be crowned champion.
