Microsoft’s flagship shooter returns for another round in this fully-fledged expansion to the blockbuster title Halo 3.
With the Halo name already synonymous with Microsoft, Halo 3 cemented the first-person shooter series as one of the most successful to date, no matter the format. Although the legendary Master Chief finished the fight by the end of this title, developer Bungie has returned to its universe to flesh out the sci-fi plot, with a story that takes place a matter of weeks before Master Chief’s final Halo fight. Taking on the role of an Orbital Shock Drop Trooper, players will work in small tactical units to clear Earth cities of their alien threat. Now playing as a solider rather than Master Chief’s Spartan, players will have to work more tactically to survive each encounter.
Multiplayer has always been a key component to the Halo series, and rather than reinvent its solid formula, ODST simply supplies Halo 3’s multiplayer foundations. A massive 24 maps are included, some of which have been taken from downloadable content released over the course of Halo 3’s lifespan.
Halo may have dropped the iconic Master Chief, but Halo 3 - ODST makes some interesting changes to the first-person shooter, bringing a new tactical flavour to the Halo world.
