Mario and Sonic have joined forces in their first ever game together, a sports party title based on the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
The cream of Nintendo and Sega’s colourful crop are on show in Mario & Sonic, with Bowser, Dr. Eggman, Princess Peach and Tails all making an appearance, and each with their own particular strengths and weaknesses. It’s an all-star gaming cast, with a few surprises thrown in along the way.
A collection of 20 Olympic events have been given the mascots’ treatment, including athletics, gymnastics, shooting, archery, rowing and fencing, all of which can be played by up to 4 players competing for the gold. Each event has been given its own interactive twist, and simplified to make it more accessible to those looking for a fast multiplayer match.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games takes the complex events of traditional Olympic titles and transforms them into snappy, pick-up-and-play multiplayer challenges. Seeing both Mario and Sonic side by side should have any Nintendo or Sega fan desperate to join their favourite mascots, together at last.
