Synopsis
Sonic returns to his retro roots in this Sonic title that brings the focus back to fast-paced side-scrolling action.
Sonic made the leap to the third dimension a number of years ago, but until recently his typical high-speed side-scrolling action has been limited to 2D portable titles. That all changes with Sonic Unleashed, which - while keeping Sonic in 3D - gives players the twisty tracks and quick tempo many Sonic fans have been craving. A number of real world locations have been used to inhabit the spin loops and power ups Sonic is known for, now at a blistering pace powered by new hardware.
Though the retro throwback to older Sonic titles is firmly in place, a number of completely fresh gameplay elements have been added to Sonic’s world - namely, a number of over-the-top fighting stages. As the sun sets on each stage, Sonic finds himself transforming into a werehog, giving him new strength to fend of the enemies that amass, as well as swing his way through a number of platforming stages.
Sonic Unleashed is the best of both worlds: a throwback to Sonic’s heyday, as well as a fresh take on the Sonic’s action-based gameplay.
