The winter games return in this official video game of Vancouver’s 2010 Winter Olympics from SEGA.

Taking a more realistic approach than SEGA’s previous Olympic effort, Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games, Vancouver 2010 offers players the chance to compete across ice and snow in the hopes of claiming the gold for their chosen country. Featuring the most fast-paced sports from the 2010 games, Vancouver 2010 lets players races down mountains and across ice runs entirely from a first-person perspective. The 14 events on offer include snowboard cross, giant slalom and bobsleigh.

Before claiming the gold, players have the option of testing their skills in a series of challenge modes designed to fine tune the abilities needed in each event. In a first for an Olympic title, players can smash through snowmen and hurtle down speed bands to test their worth. Players can take on challengers online, setting world records for others to beat, or play with up to three others using split-screen mode.

Focusing on the more fast-paced events of the Winter Olympics, Vancouver 2010 provides a refreshing depiction of the winter games.
