Synopsis

Allowing a massive 256 soldiers onto the battlefield at one time, Sony’s MAG lets players fight online in full-scale armed combat.

Originally short for Massive Action Game, Sony’s online shooter, MAG, lives up to its grand name in spades, letting hundreds of players meet up online and command squads, platoons and full-scale armies during combat. In a world where Private Military Corporations are hired to fight nations’ wars, three names have risen to the top to fight for these profitable mercenary contracts. Once players have chosen their side they will be dropped into a small eight man squad that fights in a group of 128 players from across the globe.

With expansive maps designed with these huge numbers in mind, players can fight in varied battlefronts, control airborne landings and use tactical strikes. As each match progresses, players can rise through the ranks of the army and take charge of larger groups of allies, ultimately commanding the entire 128-man army. New skills and abilities will also be unlocked that help players specialise in their chosen combat field.

MAG offers players a sense of scale rarely seen in console shooters, placing them in the midst of full scale warfare, with a progression system ensuring squads are constantly rewarded for their actions.
